Bath Youth League Basketball 2025-26 - This program is for children within the RSU #1, West Bath & Georgetown districts ONLY.
Registrations period will open on 10/1/25 and close on 11/5/25 (unless teams fill prior to 11/5). Please register early to help us plan and schedule.
Bath Youth League Basketball is a league play program for boys and girls in grades 3 - 6.
Teams are made up in the following ways:
- Girls 3rd & 4th grade combined
- Girls 5th & 6th grade combined
- Boys 3rd & 4th grade combined
- Boys 5th & 6th grade combined
Depending upon the number of teams in each division; we may play all in-house or with surrounding towns of Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Richmond and Boothbay Harbor.
This program aims to teach the foundations of basketball while providing an opportunity for each child to play in the recreational season.
PRACTICES: Dates & times TBD once coaches are in place. They are usually 1 or 1.5 hours and are held on weeknights.
GAMES: Game schedules will be published after registration is complete and we know how many teams we have from all participating communities.
COACHES: We need coaches! Please contact the recreation department ASAP if you'd be willing to coach or assist a team. 207-443-8360 and ask for Gina!
Youth League Goals:
-Create an environment in which children have fun and feel physically and emotionally safe
-Teach basketball, skills, rules and strategies
-Empower participants to do their best
-Model and teach good sportsmanship and healthy competitiveness
-Encourage participation and physical fitness
-Provide a program that meets the needs of recreational and competitive players
-Value maximum individual participation over winning
-Place the needs of the participants before adults
-Provide positive and rewarding volunteer opportunities for teenagers and adults
-->Teams are formed based on the number of coaches available. Once teams are full registration will go to a wait list. If you are interested in coaching please contact Gina at gcaldwell@cityofbath.com or select that option during registration.
Wait list will begin November 5 or when teams are full.
Practice days are determined by coaches availability. We understand that kids are involved in other activities so please let us know if a certain day of the week does not work for your family. We will do our best to accommodate other activities, travel issues, and siblings.
Registration includes a team shirt to keep.
Please bring your own basketball if you already have one. Extra balls will be provided to coaches.
We use a 28.5 inch basketball for practice and game play.
